Catia

which stands for Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application - is the most powerful and widely used CAD (computer aided design) software of its kind in the world. CATIA is owned/developed by Dassault Systems of France and until 2010, was marketed worldwide by IBM Catia plays a major role in the design process. Architects are now using CATIA. The great Guggenheim Museum in Spain, considered an architectural asterpiece, was designed using CATIA. CATIA is used by the automotive and aerospace industries for automobile and aircraft product and tooling design. There are thousands of companies the world over using CATIA.  For every company that uses CATIA for product design, there are hundreds of suppliers to those companies that also use CATIA.

USES CATIA is found in a variety of industries throughout the world. Some of these industries include; Aerospace, Appliances, Architecture, Automotive, Construction, Consumer Goods, Electronics, Medical, Furniture, Machinery, Mold and Die, and Shipbuilding. CATIA has played a major role in NASA's design of the Space Shuttle. The military - working with private industry

job opportunities With more and more companies adopting CATIA as their primary CAD system, there are never enough designers (with CATIA knowledge) to fill the world-wide demand.

AUTOCAD

AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application. Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal. Since 2010, AutoCAD was released as a mobile- and web app as well, marketed as AutoCAD 370. AutoCAD is used across a wide range of industries, by architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers, and many other professionals. It was supported by 770 training centers worldwide in 1994

USES Civil engineering drawings are made using AutoCAD. It helps to draw accurate 2D drawings and also use AutoCAD to render to 3D models to help in visualization of the end product. AutoCAD also has inbuilt tools that allow any number of revisions and changes easily and quickly. You can edit or delete details easily using simple user-friendly commands. You can also save the previous versions of the file in case you wish to re-use them.

job opportunities AutoCAD is used across various industries, which is why it’s a prerequisite skill for many potential jobs. In fact, some sectors will have it as part of the potential job title, e.g. ‘AutoCAD Electrical Drafter’. Although there are many AutoCAD career options out there, we’re going to concentrate on four main groups:

  • Drafting
  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Design
STAAD PRO

STAAD PRO is a structural analysis and designing software that works on a finite element method. This software can examine and design the engineering shapes of a place like buildings, bridges, automobiles, etc. It provides a realistic view to the temporary structures by generating the various loads like wind and earthquake and the way they affect the building. It can carry out the designing of metals, static and dynamic elastics and also non linear dynamic elastics to analyze them and to create proper structures. The user- friendly GUI interface used in it is very simple and easy to understand. This structural analysis & design engineering software has become the most preferred choice of every civil engineer.

USES & job opportunities STAAD is nothing but Structural Analysis And Design. STAAD Pro programming is broadly utilized as a part of the structural analysis and designing structures – towers, buildings, bridges, transportation facilities, utility and industrial structures. Designs can include building structures incorporating culverts, petrochemical plants, bridges, tunnels, piles; and construction materials such as timber, steel, concrete, aluminum and cold-formed steel.

REVIT

Autodesk Revit is building information modeling software for architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, designers and contractors developed by Autodesk. It allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model's database. Revit is 4D BIM capable with tools to plan and track various stages in the building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and later maintenance and/or demolition.

USES & job opportunities

Revit can be used as a very powerful collaboration tool between different disciplines in the building design sphere. The different disciplines that use Revit approach the program from unique perspectives. Each of these perspectives is focused on completing that discipline's task. Companies that adopt the software first examine the existing work flow process to determine if such an elaborate collaboration tool is required.
