One of the broad engineering fields, Electronics and Communication involves the transmission of information across channels like coax cable or optical fiber. It also deals with designing equipments such as routers, switches, fiber optics and electronic switching systems. In a nutshell, this branch of engineering deals with electronic devices and software interfaces. A degree in this field develops candidate’s analytical and programming skills, which makes you compatible for even software companies.

The department also has its technical society-Phoenix, the society organizes quizzes, technical seminars, mock interviews, aptitude tests, and technical paper presentation etc for the students.
Candidates have ample opportunities in this field. Upon completion of the degree, candidates can choose to work in consumer electronics, electricity generation and distribution, transportation, aviation and avionics, computer applications, radio and television, telecommunications, manufacturing and offshore industries.

For General/OBC candidates 60% marks in B.Tech or equivalent. For SC/ST candidates 55% marks in B.Tech or equivalent. Candidates having 60% marks and valid qualified GATE score for General/OBC candidates and 55% of marks and valid qualified GATE score SC/ST candidates will be given preference in admission.
Advance Registration for admission in B. Tech courses has begun for the students who have appeared in the qualifying examination i.e. 10 +2 in the current year or passed earlier & will appear in AIEEE/JEE in the current year. The admission shall begin as soon as the result of 10+2 is announced by the CBSE / ICSE / Uttarakhand Board / Any other equivalent board.
Electronics Circuit Lab
Design of amplifiers and other electronic systems to satisfy specifications. Bipolar and field-effect transistors, diodes integrated circuits and passive components are part of the hardware needed.
Digital Electronics Lab
The Digital Electronics lab focuses on the fundamental theories and concepts of Digital Electronics. Digital Electronics Laboratory is fully equipped with the required instruments such as C.R.O., Multimeters, signal Generator etc. to conduct experiments with digital ICs
Measurement of different electrical and electronic parameters such as voltage, current, power, energy, resistance, inductance, capacitance etc. are performed in Measurement laboratory.
Analog Integrated Circuit Lab
This lab gives the concepts of basic electronics, solid state devices & circuits and linear IC (OPAMP, 741 & 555) applications. A variety of experiments relating to diode and transistor as an amplifier, Darlington amplifiers, push-pull amplifiers, negative feedback amplifiers and Wein-bridge oscillators are performed.
Circuit Design on PCB Lab
The PCB lab has special machines like PCB coating machine, etching machine, and UV light producer, Baking Oven and drilling Facility to produce single side PCBs. Using these machines students can design PCBs for their projects.
Analog Communication Lab
This lab deals with the study of analog and digital communication systems. Experiments based on amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, double side band modulation, single side band modulation are performed.
Various parameters of receiver like sensitivity, selectivity & fidelity are tested. Experiments of PAM, PWM, PPM, PCM, Delta modulation & adaptive delta modulation are performed.
Advanced Microprocessor Lab
Microcontroller is the single chip device containing CPU and other associated circuitry along with memory. The microcontroller lab consists of programming and debugging facility with licensed software along with the following tools:
- Integrated Programming Tool (IPT)
- Visual program builder (VPB)
- C-Cross Complier and Debugger
- Virtual Code Generator
The facility of transferring the simulated program into 8051 micro controller chip is also available with Embedded Driver Routines along with bread board facility for testing of hardware circuits. Applications specific kits are also available for demonstration and learning purposes.
Concept of Programming & OOPS (C++,Java) Lab
The lab is installed with all important editors like CodeBlock, Dev C++ provides a dual operating system environment where the students can learn to execute C and C++ programs in all types of environments.
Digital Signal Processing Lab
Experiments based on the verification of basic and advanced DSP are done in this lab. Advanced DSP starter kits are available for performing the experiments, along with the simulation using MATLAB and its various toolboxes. The following tools are available in this lab:

Digital Communication Lab
Digital Communication Lab offers students a unique and relevant opportunity to experiment with a wide range of real-world signals in introductory and digital communications laboratories.
Data Structure Lab
The Lab is dedicated for Data Structure related practicals. High configuration computer systems installed with softwares like Dev C++ and Codeblocks are used by the students to execute their Data Structure related projects and assignments.
This lab deals with measurement on microwave benches of X-band and characteristics of Reflex Klystron Tube and Gunn diode. Experiments based on measurements of frequency and wavelength, VSWR, impedance, radiation pattern insertion loss, directivity, gain and bandwidth of various antennas are performed. In addition to this design experiments based on common hardware design like rectangular and circular waveguides, frequency meters, directional coupler, micro-strip couplers, phase shifters, E, H band attenuators, reflex Klystron tube, Gunn oscillators, isolator, VSWR meters, power supplies, CROs and multimeters are also performed.
OFC & Matlab Lab
The Optical Communication laboratory is setup to complement the topics studied in the Optical Communication theory course. The lab is equipped with fiber optic trainer kits and modules to enable the study of components of an optical communication system. The students perform experiments to study the characteristics of optical sources (LED & LD) and optical detectors (LD & APD) and optical fibers(SM & MM). Fault detection in a fiber link is studied using the OTDR module, Free Space Optical Communication.
CAD of Electronics Circuit Lab.
The VLSI-EDA lab is equipped with the most up-to-date industry standard VLSI EDA tools and hardware resources. The lab facility includes course lab for course projects and assignments, research lab for thesis and research and testing lab for VLSI testing.
Advanced Robotic Control Lab For Industrial Application
In this laboratory students of RCE are getting advanced training on cutting edge Robotic Software. This training is meant to pave the way for RCE students to access the industrial robots located in INDIA companies like Hero Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Tata motors, etc. and apply their work practically.
A learning center in collaboration of RCE and Wipro
In this learning center UTLP Embedded Program that is proposed by WIPRO is covered which is related to Xilinx & VHDL / Verilog Languages and FPGA.
In this laboratory students become familiar with MATLAB software covering various aspect such as MATLAB Desktop, basic commands through the Command window, output through the Graph window, matrix operations, signals, use of “if condition”, for loop and while loop, implementation of functions , solving algebraic and differential equations, transform and Simulink. Here students would be able to work on MATLAB, do calculations, print out graphs, solve algebraic and differential equations, calculate Laplace and Fourier transform etc.
e-Yantra Robotics Lab holds a unique annual competition for undergraduate students in science and engineering colleges. Selected teams are given a robotic kit complete with accessories and video tutorials to help them learn basic concepts in embedded systems and microcontroller programming. Abstracts of real world problems assigned as “themes” are then implemented by the teams using the robotic kits. The winners of this competition are offered summer internship at IIT Bombay through e-Yantra Summer Internship.
About Program: Aim of this program is to introduce about ATMEGA-2560 microcontroller based firebird-V robot. After completion of this program, student would be able to use aforesaid microcontroller for different applications.
